WAMT....what annoyed me today!

We accepted an offer on our house, and had an offer accepted on a bungalow. Fingers crossed for a smooth transaction.
Our buyer appears to have gone AWOL! Our Estate Agent last heard from her on Wednesday morning regarding the ID checks. They haven't been able to contact her since. She's not answering any calls or replying to any messages.

Sorry to hear that Marc, moving house is stressful enough without extra hassle. Hope there is some reasonable explanation and it get sorted out.

Thanks, Dave. Just hope we don't lose the Bungelow. They haven't found anywhere yet, so that takes a little of the pressure off.
Sometimes, these house moving problems can turn into unexpected benefits.

The last house we sold, we accepted a much lower offer than the asking price. That buyer just fell through without warning. Such things happen. {shrug}. Then a new buyer appeared, offered the full price and just wanted possession as soon as possible. This was no problem for us as we already owned the other house and it was empty. The whole thing was settled in six weeks and we were a big chunk of cash better off!

So take heart, it could just turn out well without warning (y)

Coming down the A12 yesterday there was a "Roadworks" sign.
My wife said "when do you ever see a man with a spade, it should show some big machine"

A spade ? I thought it meant rain imminent and he was putting up a brolly....:)

Days after we cancelled the sale of our bungalow (we would have had to move into temporary accom ) my wife was diagnosed with renal cancer and had to be rushed in for an emergency kidney (+other bits) removal! He works in mysterious ways!

6-8 weeks for an appointment with the nurse to take bloods! Only a few years ago, it used to be a walk-in clinic. I've now got to go to the hospital, where parking is a complete nightmare!

Has the clinic closed or something?

Fortunately, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital here has pretty decent parking now if using the large multistorey, but anything outside can be a nightmare, with people parking on double yellows, in disabled bays without badges showing, between bollards etc. Presumably they don't want the small extra walk from the multistorey, but we are talking literally an extra 2 mins.

The worst thing I'm seeing now is people parking fully on this pavement here where it's narrow, meaning pedestrians can only just squeeze through but wheelchairs and prams have got no chance.

No. they just changed it from walk-in to appointment only.

Sorry, I thought you meant the appointment with the nurse was at the hospital.

Sorry, should've made it clear that the clinic was at the GP Surgery.

An update: My wife sent an email to the surgical team (who requested the bloods). This afternoon,, I got a test, telling me I have an appointment tomorrow morning!

Washed the car Sunday,

Came out at dinner and a bird had shat from the bonnet up the windscreen, all over the roof and roof rack.

It was huge, must have been a feckin Golden Eagle with the runs

Is it a blue car?
The birds always seem to poop on my blue car! Just after I’ve washed it

I misread it, my fault. Looks like you got a result.

Round our way the birds that are excremental gold medalists are the pigeons. At any time their deposits are difficult to deal with but in the autumn they can eat all manner of fruit and convert it into bluey/purple concrete.

We found out during the last year, that if we (living in Kent), try to book bloods via the phlebotomy service it takes about the same time as you. I found out by accident, after going to the surgery when it was quiet, first thing in the morning, that the nurse did mine immediately. We have just changed surgeries and my wife had her bloods done there two days after joining. Unfortunately, given what happened to me five years ago, I may harbour a very jaundiced opinion of the NHS generally, empty waiting rooms, yet you cannot get an appointment, being one glaring example.

About 20 minutes ago (it was still light) I happen to look out of the window to see a car drive by and out of the window came empty MacDonald's packaging along with the large 'paper' drinks cup and the straw plus the brown paper bag they had been put in by the server. I picked up seven separate items.

Complain to Customer Service Email: customerservices@mcdonalds.co.uk, you might get a free burger :(

Just come back from what should have been a nice, quiet drive in the country, ended up in a hailstorm/torrential rain for twenty minutes, where every other car had no lights on, really dangerous as the visibility was awful.

Well that's Deliveroo for you. You should have used Uber Eats.

Can be a problem with so many new(ish) cars having automatic headlights - if it's still relatively bright, they'll stay on DRLs rather than proper headlights. Personally, I'd rather DRLs were dispensed with and all vehicles had their headlights on instead.

Modern driving lights are quite bright, certainly enough to be seen in bad weather.

Not from the rear. Both Mrs Nod's and my cars' DRLs are relatively dim compared to their headlights - they both have small strips surrounding the main lights.

Surely you can manually turn on the headlights.

Automatic headlights have been a thing for so long, I suspect most drivers never give them a thought. My car has 'matrix' headlights and automatically switches main and dipped beams.

I suppose AI in cars is going to be a bit of an upgrade - some intelligence is better than none . . . :coat:

The auto headlights on mine has three settings: early/medium/ late. The early setting will turn them on under less dim conditions and also turn them on sooner when conditions are dark, such as going through a short tunnel.

The light sensor is a combined light/rain sensor and it also uses the rain sensor to turn the headlights on automatically when it detects rain.

One issue I have with DRL's (especially bright ones) is I've seen quite a few people at night thinking that their headlights are on, whilst unaware that their car is pitch dark from the rear.

Of course you (and I) can. The problem for me is that the stalk that controls the lights is hidden behind the steering wheel and has around 6 or 7 detents, only one of which is "ON". Not a problem if I'm leaving home in bright but rainy conditions but is if I gat caught in a sudden heavy shower! I wish it was possible to set it to have headlights (and tail lights) on with the "ignition" but it isn't.

My 2014 Fiesta automatically turns the headlights on if the automatic wipers go to high speed.

Rang 4 local companies to buy turf for my garden over the last few days. Left messages and emails but not one of them have responded. I want to buy local, not get poor grass from B&Q! :headbang:
