Software to convert CR2, CR3 to JPG (and ideally HEIF as well)

To save space I photograph in CR2/CR3 (I use more than one camera).
I have been using Canon DPP to convert to JPG to stack etc.

However it is really unstable, any alternate software?
 
Seems a bit odd, I have never found it unstable. Have you installed the latest version?

Do you have Lightroom or Photoshop?

No I use Corel Paintshop, I only recently reinstall Canon DPP so it should be the latest version.
 
I use DXO photolab it’s excellent but quite expensive but feel it’s worth it compared to the cost of my kit
 
If you need something simple, fast and lightweight, try Irfanview.
