Photos scanner options

I'm preparing myself to scan loads of old photos and was wondering, which model would you recommend nowadays?
Last time I had a scanner was in 90s ;)
I'm seeing that Canon LiDE 400 is often recommended.

A lot depends on what you are trying to scan: prints, slides, large format negatives, 120 or 135 film, or odd formats like 110 or 126!

Like I said - just photos - old, printed photos.

For scanning in printed photos almost any newish multi-function printer/scanner/copier will do a half decent job. I've had a cheapo consumer Canon PIXMA something for about 4 years which is perfectly acceptable for scanning in prints.

The Canon has bundled software which is fine for the purpose.

A quick read of https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/canon-canoscan-lide-400 gives a good, positive account of it's photo scanning capabilities. Of course with any scanner like this you are limited to one pic at a time. You can fill the flatbed up with photos but all the images will then be in one file.

I've not been able to compare the max resolution between my multi-function scanner and the Lide 400 but I suspect the 400 will be higher resolution than my all-in-one.

Most folk in this part of the forum will be scanning in negatives and that may be part of the reason you've had so few replies. Negative scanning is a whole different ball game!

Thanks, it looks like those modern scanners are simple solution for scanning prints.
Unfortunately I do not have films for thsoe photos, when I was a kid, dad used to develop them, print and throw away films, we did not keep them back in 80s.
Now when I'm getting towards end of the trip, I thought I would scan all my family photos and keep them digital as well.
I guess I'll buy one of those flatbeds and scan one after another.
