GoPro - advice please

I bought a GoPro Hero 12 and am having problems. Hoping someone can sort me out!.

I have 3 Samsung phones (Android 16), 2 lap tops and 1 tablet and none of them have HEVC installed. I note HEVC is available in the Microsoft App Store for 79p. First question is will it work on Windows 11 as well as Android 16?

Any other suggestions.

Hopefully you have your answer but in case not.

If you buy the HEVC pack on the Microsoft store you'll be able to playback HEVC videos on any Windows 11 computers that are attached to the account you paid for the software with up to a limit of ten devices I think it is. I found a number of guides that claim you can get the codec for free but I think they're out of date because I couldn't get any of them to work.

Android devices are completely separate to this and should be able to play HEVC videos without purchasing any software. I just tried recording an HEVC video and put it on an Android 16 tablet (specifically a Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra) which was able to play it without issue.

The DJI cameras default to HEVC but they give an option for H264 instead which I believe is less efficient with storage however I prefer H264 for the better compatibility.
