The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

£805.50, that's my final offer! :D

I’m all for helping out a fellow tog and especially as you’re local. But for some reason on this occasion I just can’t take the hit. Losing just over £800 in 3 months and then needing to add another £500 to the money to get the X100 just makes no sense whatsoever :(

Must be getting old. Or tight :ROFLMAO:

Skulks off to look at the size of the bag I now have to carry if I want to take my camera out

Has anyone else stopped getting email notifications when someone posts on a thread you're following/using? For some reason I've not been getting any notifications today

That happens to me occasionally, usually on one thread at a time. I usually unwatch it and then watch it again and it fixes it.

EDIT: I've just re-read your post and noticed that you mentioned emails. I have all the emails turned off, I just meant notifications on the bell icon.

We were at the Goodwood Festival of Speed yesterday, I took my X-T4 which for the Offroad Arena I used a Fringer smart adapter and my EOS 300mm f/4 L. I have to say the combination performed better than I used to get with the EOS 1D Mk2N , the arena was so dusty you could hardly see the cars, I was blown away by the high percentage of nailed focus pictures.

And a static bike from the Monster stage.

As it was a trip with my wife I did not get to spend as much time as I would have liked on the hill climb or find a suitable vantage point to use the 300mm as it was afternoon by the time we made it to the hill and could not find a good point on the house side ie. with the cars and bikes not against the light.

Great shots! I was there yesterday too, haven't had a chance to go through my shots yet. I spent most of the day just past the flint wall, in a spot with a bit of shade :)

Thank you, in the past I have hunkered down at a good spot on the hill for a complete set of runs then moved to the rally stage for a complete set of cars before exploring the static cars and exhibitions. Not possible with a bored wife to keep entertained, I should not really complain as she bought the tickets :)

Long time since I've been here but I have a bit of a confession...I sold my X-T2 a while ago and bought a Nikon Z6! The image quality of the Z6 is incredible but it does feel hefty compared to the X-T2. Anyway, long story short, I still miss the Fuji for casual use so dug out my wife's knackered X-T1 which was buried away in an old bag having been used for portrait work for many years before being replaced a while back. It was filthy, the eye cup was missing, rubber mostly sagging or fallen off and the on/off button needed The Rock to operate. Plus operation was sloooooooooow.

So far I have...

Cleaned it!
Replaced the SD card which was knackered! Works quickly now.
Replaced the eyecup with a JJC part from Amazon @ £7.99.
Fixed the stiff on/off button using a technique mentioned on DPReview many years ago - running dental floss around it until all the gunk comes out! Works perfectly now lol
Ordered replacement rubber skin pieces @ £13.79 from Aliexpress (should be here in 3 days or so)
Ordered a 7Artisans 27mm f/2.8 lens from Aliexpress (£60 after cashback!)

I also kept my Viltrox Air 25mm f/1.7, so will give that a go as well.

Will post some before and after photos when I get a chance.

Hello All

Quick question if anyone can help.

I’m shooting on my XT-5 on 1:1L format.

On live view, the image is 1:1 but on playback looks like a normal 4:3.

Any ideas which setting needs adjusting?

many thanks

There's a 27mm F/2.8 pancake in the classifieds, if anyone's interested ;)
Doh! I bought one about six weeks ago specifically because it fits same niche that my Zeiss 45mm Tessar did / does on the Contax Aria it is one of those angles of view that my brain sees.
Actually a really nice lens to walk around with.

This happens when you have your card saving setup as raw/jpeg. The raw files save to slot 1 and that is what is previewed by default. When in playback go to the menu and select card slot 2 and you’ll see JPEG previews instead with your 1:1 crop applied.

Or save raw & jpeg to both cards...

So I might* have just ordered a loan of an X-T5. The four day promotion is over, but it's being delivered on the 3rd of August and collected on the 6th, so I'll have plenty of time with it :)

*absolutely have ;)
That's if I return it next week ;)

The use of AI ??!!!

I gave ChatGPT one of my images (taken on an X-T2 with XF16mm F1.4 lens back in 2018)

Chester - Storyhouse by David Yeoman, on Flickr

Along with the words

“convert this image to look like a 1930s railway poster, the location is Chester”

and it came back with

Now apart from glaring in-accuracy that British Railways wasn't formed until 1948, its (probably not surprisingly) very good.

I've used chatGPT a few times for photo manipulation and it's pretty impressive.

Love it.

Do you think I could use ChatGPT to turn my XT5 into an X100VI?

On a serious note, it is interesting how it a. removed the starburst from the lantern on the right hand side and b. fixed the broken vertical strip light all by itself.
