NickD's 52 for 2026 - Week 29 - Unfinished.

Nice one Nick

Common Darter?

I just don’t have the patience for taking these so full credit to you. Nice result

Excellent shot of the dragonfly, how long did you have to wait for that.

Cracking bit of macro work - respect!

Thanks.
It was always going to be some king of Macro shot, it's something I've been enjoying recently.

I think it is, from what I've found, but I'm no expert and I'm happy to be corrected.

I'm just getting into it, and while I do throw away many more shots than I keep, I do find the keepers fascinating.

Believe it or not, this one came to me.
We went out to the local woods before it got too warm, and I got some nice, interesting beetles. I was going through them in Lightroom trying to decide which one to use when the Mrs came in to tell me there was a dragonfly in the garden. I dashed out so as not to miss it, and grabbed a few frames at reasonably close distance before it went on its way. As you can probably tell by the hotspots on its eyes, I didn't stop to put my diffuser back on. Lesson learned!

Excellent work ;)

Superb detail, good choice.

Great parakeet shot Nick and your macro of the dragonfly is excellent!

Perfectly captured Nick, the boat owners must have looked for that bit of shade for some time.

I bet! I can't imagine the heat in a tin box like that in full sun. Having said that it's often cooler down by the water.

That works well for the theme

Cheers!
It does, I'm not sure I like it that much as an image though.

Nicely spotted and composed.

Thanks!
The composition was a little forced. I was talking pictures of bands at a little festival we were playing at, and I'd only taken an 85mm as a result. This and the environment bound me in to quite a tight view.

Very idyllic scene warm tones of the BG stand out.

Cheers!
I saw it over my shoulder and the warm/cool contrast jumped out. I didn't have to manipulate it at all.

Nice one Nick :)

Unfinished, maybe they should have just stopped at 3 storeys, or maybe I’m just fed up with high rises:argue:
Anyway, good photo, love the red bus giving a lift to the colours

They're constantly going up near my office, so I knew I'd get something. Other shots I took were more obvious, but it was the bus that led me to go with this one, I like the red against the green of the foliage and the blue of the sky.

I was thinking of doing the same thing Nick, lots of unfinished building in downtown but I didn't make it that far. Good shot.
