Ha, I'm still happy with my X-T2s mate, though I have updated my LR so I could go for newer if I wanted. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
 
Spent a while at Southend airport last night, as someone had posted on farcebook that he would be arriving with his Jet Provost. Followed some people down a little path that I'd not seen before, and found a fantastic spot with a really close view of pretty much the whole runway!

The light was going by the time the JP appeared; he did a flyover but I wasn't expecting the direction change, and had forgotten to turn off the stabilisation, so most of the "action" shots are terrible. There's one where he was almost directly over me and I *nailed* the focus... but most of the plane was out of the frame :D

I can’t see it being revolutionary, more likely to be an incremental upgrade.

I expect AF to be better, it’s anyone’s guess whether they’ll upgrade the EVF and/or LCD. I doubt it’ll have a stacked sensor, maybe partially stacked but I it’ll still likely have noticeable rolling shutter with the electronic shutter.

I hope they concentrate on build quality.

Camera manufacturers have the ability to make a camera that would give 99% of people everything they want but of course they won’t as it’s not a good business model as no-one would want any future cameras.

I expect the X-T6 to be no different, they’ll leave something/some things out that’ll frustrate would be buyers and send photography YouTubers into meltdown ;)

It's just between the church and the airport. If you park just before the mini roundabout, there's a little car park for disabled badge holders, which quite often has the gate shut: head to the far left corner of that and follow the path round :)

I can’t quite worked out where Kerry took these from, I am guessing North side as the control tower is visible.

There is a nice raised walkway on the south west corner of the airport, which gives you in obstructed views over the west end of the runway.

It’s on the road south of the airport, that runs parallel to the runway, towards the Tesco end.

It’s also worth joining the Southend airport FB group as you find times of unusual aircraft and times like when the Red Arrows are based there etc

That's the group where I found out about the Jet Provost visit. I was sort of exactly on the other side of the compound to that raised walkway Richard mentioned.

Happy to meet up with either or both of you at some point if there's something interesting due to arrive or depart :)

The new RAF sentry plane is currently there being painted.
Might try and find out when it’s due to fly out
 
Has anyone got any real life experience of the Sirui Sniper 56mm f/1.2?
I watched a few YT videos from 2 years ago. Some said it was great, some said it wouldn't focus (but these were pre-production I believe).

I wondered if anyone here has one and current experience with it on the current range of bodies.
 
I'm not normally someone who does projects but I recently decided (maybe prompted by the good weather) to spend a little time only photographing landscape type stuff within s short walk of home. Have to say, I've been really loving it. I walk all over the place with the dog but rarely stop to really size up images and sometimes it's easy to overlook things on your doorstep. I think this will continue for a while I have built up a long list in my head of little locations and when to shoot them. I don't know if it's just the colours at this time of year and particularly because it's been so dry but I'm finding I'm really liking Astia at the moment. Generally speaking I prefer the more muted tones of chrome.

So I took my newly acquired x-h1 and 35mm f1.4 away with me. Also took my Nikon gear. The camera 100% remains possibly the most comfortable I’ve ever used. That ever so quiet mechanical shutter sound cannot be matched. Still having the ISO dial on the more modern camera design works so well and imo was a mistake for the x-h2 to move away from. It does feel very much a Fuji camera, and for me, the X-h2 moved a little too far away from that in the design.

The af, paired with the 35mm was of course a big step down from what I’ve been using and there were a couple of moments missed. A little reminder that the camera is essentially an x-t2 in a suit of armour.

There is a 90mm sitting in the basket at present and a trip to Italy next week. I’d need a wider too to take if I were to bring the camera on that trip (probably the 16mm)- it may have to be left behind as I’m covered for all focal lengths with the Nikon (I’ll only be taking 1 camera on this trip).
