Bill Oddie RIP

I used to live close to the Welsh Harp reservoir in NW London. You’d quite often see Bill Oddie over there watching the waterfowl and migrating birds. I think Kate Humble’s description of him as “irascible” is probably right as he was generally very grumpy, assuming he even acknowledged you in the first place . I always liked him in the Goodies and I’m Sorry I’ll Read That Again though, so I’d cut him some slack.

A genuinely nice guy, I met a few times over the years whilst birding, first time in 1986 at Portland Bill, put me and a friend onto a Kentish plover.
 
The Goodies made me laugh so much, I liked the songs too.
