High-end bridge cameras: Sony RX10iv, RX10v, Panasonic FZ1000 etc

As Alby has said, for BEST results, use a "proper" macro/close up lens on your interchangeable lens set-up. However, a close up "filter" in the 10 bag is a LOT easier to carry on the off chance you'll want/need it. An MP-65 set up on a Canon DSLR might be a bit OTT!!!

:LOL:Absolutely! I had the MPE way back and it was a swine to use - no autofocus, no manual focus, no nothing :oops: :$

Great catch Alby :)

I think the Nisi is 3-4 diopters and the Sigma is 1.8 - ie a lot less powerful which is what I want to just get me a wee bit closer at 600mm? Hope that makes sense!

But I take your point that it'll never match a dedicated macro lens - I just want to see how close I can get... (pun intended - sorry)
 
While out walkabout I stumbled upon this lovely "Cotton Lavender" growing in a council run garden and figured it was well worth a Snap.

Tempting! I feel an attack of GAS coming on!!!
 
So I got a couple of shots this afternoon of the same subject as below - the first with the Sigma diopter and the second without... I got closer with the diopter on, no question, but there's a commensurate loss of DOF the closer you get so in all honesty I marginally prefer the second (the file size is smaller due to a heavier crop but it's still adequate for laptop viewing (to me anyway)). They look a bit rubbish on here but not too bad on Flickr I think :)

About £500, I reckon... :whistling:
 
I still use my Sony RX100 mk1 for situations where you can’t take a big camera or just to carry around in pocket
Its still better than my iPhone for anything low light especially for things like band photography
I shoot raw then process in DXO , took one of my favourite ever shots with the little Sony
I did look for a newer alternative but there just isn’t anything available new that does the same thing , a range from wide to 100mm equivalent that is as small as the RX100 mk 1 with a decent sensor size, the Sony is 1 inch, bigger would be awesome
There are small removable lens cameras but security doesn’t let you in with those for concerts/gigs

I upgraded my Mk 1 for a later model to get the extra reach. Being lazy and not enjoying PP at all, I shoot JPEG and accept the limitations that might bring.

For most things the JPEGs from the RX100 are excellent, I just go for raw when really pushing it in low light as ISO 3200 is noisy with that camera but DXO gives excellent results

The King is Dead... Long Live the King! After 10 years of happy snapping with my RX10iv, I now have an RX10v! :D :D :D

Sorry - quite excited! Initial observations - better screen and viewfinder, much faster and more accurate focussing, handles nicely - feels quite similar but maybe just a bit higher quality. First snap as below - seems sharp enough to me!
