I've had one of these on and off over the years, and it's a spectacular lens. It works quite well in many situations; obviously, it is a really good macro lens but also works well for portraits, as long as you like the crystal-clear output. A Swiss-army knife of a lens, works great on FX and DX and it is a true 1:1 macro to boot so you can't go wrong imho.

Yes but the 60mm can be used for copying slides as well so is a little more versatile.

The 60mm will be good for your intended use. The 105mm Mikro lens is great for insects and butterflies and general use as a portrait lens.

I use mine a lot for copying slides and negatives, but here are two taken with the Nikon D850 + the 60mm /2.8 ....... f/5.6 and /3.2......the bee at 1/1250th and the flower at 1/100th
I've blown them up a little so you can see the detail, (or lack of it) and DOF, tripod of course
I find the old MF Micro-NIKKOR-P 55mm f3.5 to be good for "close ups"
(manual focus and stacking ....... for insects that close) - I tend to use the Laowa 100mm f2.8 Macro

Superb optics but iris can be sticky and fail to open fully - I got through three. The issue seemed to be overlubrication or heat melting the grease in the very long focus travel. One repairer I knew would only use graphite powder on early micronikkors for this reason.

Am just a year back into photography after a long break. Using an old D200 this year gone by, so the 60mm will be a 90mm equivalent.
