Not very to the best of my knowledge.

I have an (untested) 18 month warranty on my recent RF70-200 f2.8 purchase from Camerasdori.

For me, the savings were worth the risk / unknowns.

At the end of the day, you pays your money and you takes your chances!

Unfortunately I'm one of those people to have never owned a credit card and for that matter I never will...so PayPal is going to have to do...and like you say if you want the savings you just have to take your chances.

PayPal have always done right by me when I needed help. Usually just requires a phone call after doing the request online.

Credit Cards for Section 75 cover though is worth it's weight in gold.

I'm thinking Panamoz for the A7V only like £40 more, well worth it id say, makes using PayPal an even easier choice.
 
I've found digital cameras to be incredibly reliable, so I wasn't overly concerned (Section 75 covers not honouring warranties) and I believe Cotswold Cameras use a UK based repairer, but if worried then it does make sense to use one who has more history with warranty work. Many people already seem to be cautious when it comes to grey market, so messing people around with the warranty and having reviews reflecting this would presumably be very harmful to their reputation.

That's a pity because unlike PayPal, Section 75 protection with a credit card also protects against a company failing to fulfil their warranty obligations.

IIRC Using PayPal credit or their pay in 3 option gives you section 75 protection

Exactly that. Often the cheapest suppliers of anything have to look after their reputation better because they can't handle bad publicity.
 
Sorry please can I check if Camerasdori charge for shipping? Cannot see anything under their FAO and to check the final cost you have to register on their site.

Thank you, I think it may be that they include postage on items over a certain amount. Looking at one of the cheap lenses and the main Google pages shows plus postage of £30.

I've decided on Panamoz for my R5mk2 and was wondering what sort of delivery times people have experienced from placing the order to receiving the package.

I'm trying to time it so delivery coincides with my 12 days off work.

My last order with Panamoz was very quick, I ordered Thursday evening and it was delivered Tuesday.

The one before that took 11 business days to arrive.

I disagree. It is very easy to enforce the Sale of Goods Act and on three occasions just had to threaten only and they caved in but I am talking about UK based companies. None of these were for camera kit which I only buy from reputable UK dealers (WEX and Clifton Cameras) in recent years.

Only easy if the business caves in and a few successes does not set the norm. It is well known to be notoriously difficult to enforce, although there has been a recent change to address it with giving the CMA direct enforcement powers that might better scare businesses into complying.

I bought an Xbox controller from Argos for my son some time ago. It stopped working about three months after the purchase, so I took it back. They refused to deal with it citing that I had to send it to Microsoft, despite me telling them that advice was against consumer laws. Eventually, they said that all they would do is send it to Microsoft anyway, so me sending it directly would be faster (an excuse Currys has tried to pull as well). They stood firm and didn't take it back, knowing that it would be a pain for me to try and enforce my rights.

Whilst logically it would be easier for me to send it directly to Microsoft, they were still in breach. Section 75 wouldn't have protected me in this case due to the value, however, in applicable cases it is far quicker process and arguably far easier to have success when dealing with companies abroad.

Sort of, it must be as described and I think you'd need to chase them under the Misrepresentation Act?

If I remember rightly that's the only part of it that does, based on a previous conversation with somebody.

I though it only applied in B2B and for private individuals the Consumer Protection Act?
 
I am clearly out of touch, the current consumer protection laws are:-

"UK consumer protection laws establish your legal rights when buying goods, services, or digital content. The primary legislation is the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which dictates that items must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. Additional rules cover online shopping cancellations and unfair trading practices."

This is what you will need for buying from reputable UK based companies though hopefully you will not have problems. I have not had to resort to consumer law for at least a decade now but, as I stated earlier, I only buy from reputable UK companies.

It gets more difficult with some of these companies, some have a base in the UK so you contact us with a UK company others I don't think they are they are HK based.
 
I've just ordered a battery grip and a spare battery for the upcoming R5mk2 from Camerasdori and the PayPal statement is showing a purchase from Cotswold?

Are Camerasdori and Cotswold the same company just trading under different names because it sure looks that way?

I believe they are operated by the same company.
 
It does look that way @Hanley no problem I guess as long as thay deliver without any issues.

The R5mk2 will be coming from Panamoz so that should be worry free.
