No
I have a canon 600d, I already own :

Samyang 35mm
Nifty Fifty
Ef-s 55-250
18-55 Kit lens

Im new to photography/videography, enjoying all types of photography and also getting into making some movies. I have £600 burning a hole in my pocket, what lens or lenses would you buy?

It depends what you prefer shooting? If you shoot mostly wide angle or tele, for say sports/wildlife?

Either way, look to a 2.8 lens and sell off the cheaper ones in that focal length.

What are your lenses not doing for you? If you can identify what one is not letting you shoot as you wish then that is the one to replace. If you don't know yet save the money, shoot some more and then work out which one needs replacing! ;)

I would be looking at the canon 17-55 f2.8.

This will replace the kit lens and give excellent quality.

Or if something longer 70-200 f4 L

For that money you could get a second hand Canon 17-40L and have change. Use this to replace the kit lens.

Or a Tamron 17 - 50 to replace the kit lens and a 70-200L F4 to replace the 55-250. With a little luck you might get both of these second hand within your budget.

If you have a crop sensor (like me) then 100% get this lens, I bought it and it has literally not been off the camera since! excellent lens.

From what I have read the 17-40L doesn't really agree that much with crop sensors!

Thanks for the input guys, I think ive decided im going to spend a little extra and get a 24-105 usm lens. I hear its a fantastic walk about lens and since I like taking pictures of everything at the moment I think it will suit my purposes. As I get more experiences I might end up getting a more specialised lens depending on where my interests go.

Good choice, although with the crop it's essentially a 38-168mm.

Would have to disagree, sell the 18-55 and get an EF-S 15-85, which is a far better choice on a crop body and it's every bit as good as the 24-105. I've had two of each.

You might find the 24-105 isn't wide enough for a walkabout lens on a crop. It's designed really as a full frame lens (that's not to say it isn't good on crop bodies) I have one for my 6d and I love it, it's a great lens, but I wouldn't use it on my 50d as I would find it far too restrictive at the wide end
As above, the 15-85 is perfect on a crop, wide enough, and long enough for most general shots, with fantastic IQ.

Unless you are going FF in near future avoid 24-105 and get 15-85. Second hand or from china preferably and start saving for macro or UWA to gain new possibilities. And do not buy 17-85 - it is crap worse then kit lens you have now.
