Yes
Just in prep for the weekend, wondering if any established 100 - 400L users have found a sweet spot or a recommended setting regards to ap, speed, ISO etc.

I realise light on the day is critical but some pointers would help very much.

Diego. :)

Apart from the obvious stuff like using an aperture of F8 at 400mm to produce slightly sharper images and also give a bit more depth of field, there isn't really anything else to report.

Hmmm I tend to shoot with it wide open most of the time. Looks pretty good to me....suppose I should check to see if it is sharper at f8 but i like the isolation from the larger aperture.

I've used all my longer lenses, incl the IS L, at around f8 as a broad default but based on light availability. There is some thought that f11 is sharpest but then you get issues of shutter speed and ISO needs. Ther eis also some thought that lenses are somewhat variable and so some work fine wide open while others need a stop or two down to get there.
