I saved my pennys and finally managed to get myself the Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8G lens earlier this week (albeit 2nd hand, ex cond), to go on my D60.
Having read all the reviews I was expecting amazing results.
I have taken lots of action shots of the children, several flower shots, landscape, horses and various others.
My standard kit lens 18-55; I have had some brilliant action shots from it. I have also had some really nice close ups from it.
I was hoping for a degree more sharpness, hence I bought the new lens.
Is it just me, but I'm not as impressed as I'd hoped. I occasionally get a good one but generally I am not impressed and am deleting all sorts of potentially lovely shots. Landscape stuff is great but then so was my kit lens.
Do I need more practice do you think, is it hard to get used to? I am either getting soft images or shooting with the sun over my shoulder the boys actually have sun flare all over their faces. Close up shots simply aren't sharp.
I was expecting big things from this lens having read countless reviews.
Any advice I would appreciate, thank you. Feeling frustrated!
