Does anyone know if canon are still doing the fix as my new 1d3 is one of the dodgy SNs :S

I hope they are otherwise we'll be testing park's 3 month warranty

I'd be amazed if Canon didn't honour the free fix for this. Do contact them and arrange to get it sent in. They should pay the postage too, both ways.

not new second hand

they ought to, but I'm worried about the new 1d4 and them saying no as its old

how would I know if its been fixed?

any chance they'll answer on a saturday?

what makes you think it hasn't had the fix?

Ring them at Elstree they are helpfull. I've just had a poor experience but they where good on the phone.

If it's a common fault which I believe it is they will probably do it free. If not then contact your nearest repairers, they can by found on Canon Uk's website.

this is infuriating they are closed on saturdays

What did you expect?

I presume you have no paperwork confirming any work done re 'fix'.

Dave, if I remember correctly any Canon product within a serial number range that may have a problem that's the result of a manufacturing flaw will be fixed by a Canon service centre for free.

should be, hoping its just rumours to the contrary

And what's even more infuriating is that Monday is a bank holiday so they wont be working then either. :suspect:

and that I knew the SN on Wednesday and it never occurred to me to check :bang:

Well I don't see any announcements on the 1D MkIII product finder page however on the 24-105 L page there is an announcement about early models that suffer from ghosting and on that page it says this:

Repair services:
Free of charge repair services will start from November 15, 2005. For further inquiries, users who have affected products are asked to contact the helpdesk.

So I see no reason why they shouldn't fix it for nothing! And if they don't you said it's under 3 month warranty so they should fix the problem (if there is one) for nothing :)

Correction! Dave you may find this link interesting :)
