Thought I would have a quick go with some water drops

Pictures taken on a Nikon D40, with the kit lens and SB600 off camera

The first is really good. Still to try this myself, I bet it can be frustrating.

I Wouldnt say its frustrating... addictive more like. I wanted to take more but I hadn't charged the battery for a while so it died.

Good efforts I think that some of them could do with being a little brighter and maybe a touch sharper on a couple of them

It is really addictive. You find yourself saying "go on then, just one more" but keeping going.

Sorry, just saw this..

All I used was water in a saucepan, off camera flash to the left, camera on a tripod. Filled the saucepan to the top, had a cup of water next to it, and just used a straw to get the water and slowly dropped it in. - Nothing fancy at all

good pix, but how do you shoot the drops, do you do timed multiple shots and see what comes out.
Also what settings do you use?
is the off camera flash being bounced off the ceiling?

cant remember the exact settings, as it was just a quick mess about. I do remember it was ISO 200

Once i had the camera set up and pointing where i want the pictures I put my finger in the water and made sure the camera was focusing on that. I then put the lens on manual focus, so it wont keep trying to adjust. Then I just kept dropping the water whilst holding down the shutter... Once the straw was empty of water had a quick look through and then done it again... Nothing fancy at all

The flash was just being bounced off a cereal box believe it or not lol
