I was just using the blower to get dust off my 500d focusing screen and managed to scrape the screen with the end of the blower! It's left a mark that won't come off. I have looked on Amazon to get a replacement, but I dont know which one to go for - there are quite a few on offer. Can anyone help with getting the correct one = HELP!!:(

I might be wrong here but i dont think you can get a Canon replacement screen for a 500d other than from a repair shop. The ones you are probably looking at are either for the 5d or 1d series. You might be able to get a katzeye replacement but they are not cheap.

You'd probably be best phoning Canon at Elstree, I would imaging they would be able to tell you and possibly sell you a replacement.
With care they are user replacable.

If you bought it from a local shop, pop back and have a word with them, they may be able to help sort it out.

I have to say my place is a dusty as hell and I change lenses a lot, but I havent got any dust on my screen yet, keeping the camera lens mount facing down or capping it straight away helps prevent dust, blowers dont really need to go in that far, just invert the camera so your holding it with the mount facing down and blow air in from below, the dust should fall out.

Also use the blower on lenses and caps before putting them away.. prevention is way better than a cure.

Hi All,
Thanks for the advice. In the meantime I had a look on ebay and there are lots advertised (non-canon). I have ordered one for £13.85. If it doesnt fit I will give Canon a ring. Thanks again:thumbs:
