500D tethered video recording

Hi,

I am looking to buy an SLR to attach to an inverted microscope. I want to record video as well as stills. Do you know if it's possible to record video while tethered with the 500D using EOS Capture utility?

I have a 5D mark II but I haven't tried this yet. However, even if it is possible with the 5D I want to make sure it is also possible with the 500D because it's not my money I will be spending.

FYI after trying this with my 5D I have found that it is possible to see/control the video functions with the ESO utility but the video files are still saved to the card. This is fine for what I need.
