500D vs 60D vs 5D2

As some of you may remember, I was made redundant late last year do have started to branch out into the photography business. I'm really lucky that I can make my 500D work hard for me and have a selection of good lenses but could really do with something which handles higher ISO's better. The 5D2 seems like the obvious first choice, especially as I have secured four weddings in the next 4 months but, if I'm honest, I'm a bit worried about the big jump and it is expensive when I'm only just starting to make some money.

So my question is, is the 60D a good enough jump from the 500D and does it fare better at higher ISO's or should I hold off & raise the extra for the 5D2?

Just for info I'm very much a primes girl - 35mm f2, 50mm f2.5, 100mm f2.8 (also, opinions on the 24-105 would be appreciated, is the f4 definitely to slow, I am drawn to this focal length)

If you are going full frame you'll do worse than buy a 24/70 f2.8 and a 70/200 2.8 for wedding stuff, if buying new then hurry with the 24/70 option as the Mk2 is going to be a big price hike. TBH the FF has a much nicer image than the cropped body and its that reason amongst others most make the jump to FF, whether your clients would notice is another matter and it does give you the option of buying cheaper EF-s lenses if you go 60D. My daughters wedding picture were taken using a couple of 50Ds and although she didnt think much of them it wasnt the quality, or lack of that she noticed but the exposure and composition that was off.

The 5DMKII through and though. You want to get away from a crop camera for weddings, FF will just give you more options, especially at the wider end. ISO performance is definitely a step up from the cropped bodies.

As for lenses, the faster the better, especially if you're going to be shooting indoors. 24-105mm ok as a general walkabout lens, but if you wanted a zoom, then I would go with the 24-70mm f2.8 and 70-200mm f2.8 combo as well as a few primes. 85mm f1.8 and the 135mm lenses are also recommended, but it depends on your budget. A decent flash would be recommended, depends how serious your wedding photography takes off

Thank you both - you both said what I knew would be said, and what I know is right but making the leap makes it all so much more serious lol

My portraits tend to be in the home environment too so the FF would be so much better where space is tight

At present I have an EX 430 mk 2 flash which I'm comfortable with
