50D firmware update help...

i want to apply the 1.0.7 firmware update to my 50D as its still on 1.0.3 but how do i do it!?!

ive downloaded it from canon and its saved on my mac desktop ..

my cf card is formatted and clean .. it says insert card into card reader and copy file onto it .. well i dont have a card reader!

can i not insert cf into camera and copy it onto card that way?

ahh no bother ive managed to get the EOS utility to do it now

For future reference your camera is effectively a card reader, just plug it in via usb and then navigate to the card via windows explorer, drop the file on to the card and away you go.

I'm sure the camera still shows up as a removable drive though...? Admittedly i never do it (prefer reading memory card directly), but sure it just worked when i tried it when i first got the Mac (with a Canon 500D).

Use Canon EOS utility software from the CD. It will do the upgrade for you via USB cable. It only takes 2 min.
