50D Unsupported files

A friend has just bought a Cannon 50D as a second camera and his files arent supported by CS3, how does he fix this? Im not sure if he bought the CS3 or downloaded it and e is at work just now so i wont find out until tonight.Cheers.

You need to be careful which version of Adobe Camera Raw you download to read the Raw files from the Canon 50D.

The current Version 5 and later is only usable with Photoshop CS4 and is not backwards compatible with CS3.

What I believe you need is the last update of Version 4, that incorporates the ability to read the 50D files - which is version 4.6 (if you can find a later version 4 then use that otherwise you can download version 4.6 here.

Or the Adboe DNG convertor if that doesn't work. Full details are in the sticky at the top of this forum, including which cameras will work with which version of ACR.

As said, download new camera raw, there are instructions for a manual install somewhere, you download the file and move it into somwhere like c: > Documents and Settions > Local Files > Adobe > Plugins, or something like that anyway!
