580 EXii not firing

I had a 580EXii go dead on me yesterday (in the middle of a wedding). Starts up OK, but will not fire. Tried it on 3 5diiis and a 5d2. No joy. Batteries changed etc.

Any ideas?

As Matt said, it does sound like a blown tube or at least a problem with the flash and not the body. I had a repair done to a camera at Lehmann's a while ago and was really happy with the service. I'd suggest giving them, or another repair centre, a call or sending an email to enquire about a repair.

Will it fire when the test button's pressed? If so, can you hear a gentle whine as the capacitor charges?

I'll have a play. I seem to recall having reassigned the test button in the dim and distant past. I'll have to get the manual out. Thanks for the help :)
