Hi all

I recently upgraded my 7D to a 5D Mk II and have had serious issues with the RAW compatibility.

Aperture seems to add a horrible green hue to photos and also vignettes the image and this is quite difficult to correct. It affects only the RAW files and doesn't seem to be a problem when using LightRoom.

I haven't been able to rectify the issue or find any solutions despite some other logs of it on other forums (namely Apple's discussion boards)

The photos appear normal for 3-4 seconds then they are re-processed and the issue above ruins the photo.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

Apple just released a raw update this week and I haven't tried it since then but will be surprised if they have gone back and corrected a 5D Mk II compatibility issue.
 
Are you just looking at wrong white balance (green/magenta shift)? Or some funky camera profile, instead of standard or faithful?

But there is a big reason why most of us prefer a lot more up to date Lightroom :)

I'm not sure what you mean, the camera is set to Standard for colour profile but that is irrelevant when shooting in RAW isn't it?

I am just struggling to make the move to Lightroom, it just isn't as easy to use for me in terms of library management.

Not camera itself, but your converter. Lightroom has these on the bottom right pane; not sure about Aperture but I would imagine they are somewhere (I would hope at least)

It is worth spending a bit of time learning lightroom and then it becomes second nature. They have excellent help files and tutorials on the net.
File organisations is in a normal way (not apple / itunes) - you have catalogs (1 will do for most people) and regular folders on your drive. Organise them by dates, by location, people or any other way you fancy and there is no apple to tell you one way or another
 
I use Aperture (and Lightroom occasionally) with my 5DII and don't have the problems you're having with RAW files. Let me know if you'd like me to confirm any of my settings on camera or Aperture.
 
Oh, I understand better what you mean now. I will look into that further.

David that would be great if you could do that, for example are you using a custom WB setting on your camera? Is there specifics on the pane on the right side during import that you have set?

I normally leave the WB on AWB if I'm out and about on a bright day. I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do when shooting RAW?

The only import settings ticked in Aperture are File Info and Rename Files.
