i went to look at a commercial property yesterday and took the camera to get some pics.

when i switched it on it was in Av and i dialled in about F9, the display showed it was +1 exposure which you can adjust with the big dial. i tried to adjust it and it wouldn't move anywhere. then when i looked thru the viewfinder only the bottom left focus point was lit (i always use the centre) and this wouldn't move either.

i switched to manual mode and only some of the variables would move but not all.. focus points were all over the place and exposure was stuck on +1.

i'm wondering if it's because it was in my car most of the day and was very cold or if it's a sign of it packing in?

any ideas?

Were you using a grip by any chance?

I had the same problem on the weekend with my MKII and I disconnected the grip and reconnected and everything worked ok.

no... no grip used. it worked fine about 10 minutes later after turning off and on for a bit.

i think it might be worth us swapping cameras... you always did fancy the MKI didn't you :D

You didn't change lenses with the camera switched on did you? I've had this lock the camera out. Solution was to turn off the camera, remove and refit lens, switch back on.

Simply switching off and on didn't fix this one. It needed the lens removed and refitted whilst switched off.

Andy.

hi andy, no it wasn't that.. as i have done that before then realised i'd left the camera switched on whilst changing lenses.

the camera was straight out of the bag with lens attached then switch on and away we go. or away we didn't go.
