5D3 with longer lenses such as the 50-500 OS

Now I know I can't afford one, but I can dream and was wondering if anyone had tried that combo, or anything long (and not massively overpriced like a Canon 500mm!), if you have how have you found the AF\quality and if so any pics of fast moving things - you know birds in flight, small children, that sort of thing.

I used my 5D3 and Sigma 150-500 OS last sunday at a wildlife park and it worked excellently. The AF speed was good and kept up with the animals easily enough. The IQ I got was good as well. The light was very changeable from sun to cloud but I got some terrific shots. This was the first time I'd really used the 5D3 apart from around the house etc and was really pleased with the results. This is at 400mm, f7.1, ISO 320 and 1/500 and is a Jpeg SOOC. Haven't had time to go through all the photos yet as there was about 800 of them.

Is this the Yorkshire wildlife park by any chance ??

Hi Kev, yes it is. The weather was a bit disappointing on sunday with sun/clouds/wind and cold all at once, but the park is amazing. To see these animals fairly close is a tremendous sight and to hear them roar is a sound you'll never forget. We plan on returning in the summer holidays to see what new arrivals they have, but as it is, it's a fantastic day out. I shot around 800 photos and could of got a lot more had the weather of been better.
