£1639.95 .... Simply Electronics  anyone used them

You sir, have a nice wife.

On a more topic related note, I had a terrible problem with Simply Electronics, as have a few others. I'd do a forum search on them before splashing that kind of money, or at least see if there are any more recent complaints.

Link to get you started.

You know you'll need to change 2 of your lenses as well i hope?

indeed ... thanks for the heads up ***

keeping the 450 for a while, so will hold on to them for a bit.

I've been slowly collecting old glass, so I can at least use the new body when it comes

I've used them for a number of Lenses and a 580EX II. I personally have had good service and got a good price.

Be aware though that it will be a grey import with a third-party warranty. This isn't a criticism. You pay (less of) your money and take your chance.

I don't think I would go as far as buying a camera body from them though.

well ... I ordered it today from warehouse express. should be here tomorrow  :D

thanks for all your input

will post pics and vid soon :)

choosing a wife that buys you 5d MKII's for xmas suggests that you have a great decision making process :) - enjoy the Camera

Yes True but what he's not told you is that it's going on Her Credit Card, but he's paying for it either with money or gift for her no doubt of a similar value :)

If you buy it from Jacobs (1794 less 3.5% Quidco cashback) and register for Club Jacobs within 4 weeks of purchase, you get an extra year's warranty for free - so 2 years total. Gotta be worth it...

Also - If you apply for an AmEx credit card you get 5% cashback for 3 months - so that would be an extra £85 off - and you get the card within 10 days.

Cheapest of all would be to buy the kit from Jacobs, sell the 24-105 lens for approx £650, and use Quidco and an AmEx card - the body would then be approx £1600 including a 2 year warranty...

Hope this helps.

Edit - just seen your post saying you've ordered it from Warehouse Express - well hopefully my post might help others anyway! Enjoy the 5D II - I'm after one myself if I can make my mind up about selling my 5D first...!

cheers dave ... FYI ... Quidco do warehouse express too. 2% on bodies *** .. more on accessories
