600 ex-rt into loch lomond

I was on a shoot at the weekend and the wind blew over my stand with softbox stupid me never had a weight on it so into the water my 600 ex-rt went loch lomond is not salt water so that was a bonus anyway you could see the water in the lcd in was drenched it never worked but this morning it seems to be back to normal apart from when you turn it off it actually takes a few seconds for it to go off.Does anyone have any recommendation of what i should do as in send it for service or continue to use it?

I'd get it looked at, the power used in a flash is actually quite high, a combination of that and water isn't one I'd want pressed up to my eyes in future.

i guess you are right i think i will call fixation as i see canon charge £60 to just check out equipment with water damage,i have another 600 too though and canon are doing £80 cashback which is tempting :-)
 
I had this with a pair of SB-800s that went for seperate swims in fresh water.

One was totally knackered, never to work again... the contact went all green and it just never came back to life. The other (which ironically had the worse swim), I put on my dashboard to dry as i finished the shoot then just left to dry for a few days in the house. It worked then failed then started working again and for the last 12 months, has worked flawlessly. It does a wierd thing with the LCD now and then where it flickers a bit but otherwise, is fully functioning.

Nikon wanted £200 to repair the circuitry on the totally pooped one, which was more than a second hand SB-800 would cost. Obviously, a 600RT is still high RRP so it might be worth repairing... try Fixation or H. Lehmans. Are you insured?

hey i am insured but there is a £200 excess on every claim so dont think its worth it as it may put up my premiums,i sent it to fixation this morning so should here back on wednesday or Thursday the extent of the damage and i will let you know :-)
 
little update about my 600 its knackered they said its corroding already but it was fresh water,it was working with some issues when i sent it to them but they are sending it back along with a new unit :-)
i may see if the old one will blend lol
