Hello again

really is my day for questions today

Having just purchased a Sigma 24-70mm DG EX Macro i am after some protection for it. cheaper to replace a filter rather than lens and all that.
anyway, 82mm filters arent exactly cheap and i was wondering whats a good one to go for? does it really make a difference as its only for protection?
i have noticed that Sigma have theyre own EX UV filter... is it worth the money?

any help or advice much appreciated as always (y)

I use a kood uv on my 24-70 and they can be got for around £15 give or take a couple of pounds, just google kood 82mm uv ;)

I often take photos of my local drifting event and stand far too close to the action which means i have rubber and stones flying at me at high speed, the hood aint gonna stop that

You are better cleaning crud off a filter than a lens IMO anyway as the hood is good for stopping knocks but not dust and grit.
