Hi guys, i am currently doing a college project on Narrative, now for my idea i was browsing the net and i cam across James Wakefield work:

I find it fascinating what he has done, and i liked the idea :)

A quick sample of text from my work

For my fist shoot for narrative, i had the idea of following a bunch friends and following their emotions, i was fascinated by the work of James Wakefield, who focuses on social photojournalism, he created some fascinating results... When i was reviewing this idea i wanted the photos to be discrete and not look setup, taking a SLR into a nightclub was not the best option as people would intestinally pose for the camera...

I then decided to get a Canon IXUS L.1 which was small and compact and looks like a digital point and click, so it would be more discreet than an SLR. I ran into more problems, when i found out the camera only Runs on APS (Advanced Photo System) film, which is very rare, and the film that they do have is colour.

I had to re-think my whole first shoot, when my friend Steven rang me wanting to borrow a phone and charger, he explained how that he was now out of a job and does nothing but sit in the house, until he finds a new job. He was telling me how he gets so bored and emotional because he has always worked from leaving school. I asked if i could follow him about for a day, to photograph the day in the life of Steve?

So thats my shoot, so i now need to find some photographer's who have done a similar thing, but i can't seem to find anything.

All the best TP's :)

There are thousands of day-in-the-life photo essays out there.

Doesn't sound a million miles from all the 365 madness on here, Flickr, et al either, although they tend to be more auto-portrait.

Here's a slightly different one to have a look at in the mean time, http://raoulgatepin.com/photographs/mainstream/

PS if that's text that you'll be submitting, give it a once over for spelling and grammar before you do. Intestinal posing sounds like something from an arty medical journal. ;)

Also I would check out William Eggleston...

...in particular his book "Guide"

And maybe Martin Parr could also be what you're looking for.

:agree:

Also some classics like Gary Winogrand, Robert Frank, Allesandra Sanguihetti, Nan Goldin, Stephen Shore. Some more recent ones, Sally Mann, Nikki S Lee, ok I could actually go on and on so I am going to stop. :D

Also highly reccomended is David Gillanders - excellent Glasgow documentary photographer. Had the pleasure of hearing him a talk a few weeks back. Gripping stuff http://www.davidgillanders.com/

Cant wait to see your results!

Vicky.
