This Gull has been creating havoc amongst the nesting colony of Black-headed Gulls.
The chicks keep coming out of the cover of the vegetation to call to the parents for food and they quickly get picked off by this Gull, he normally takes them up high to a roof and took three within about 30 minutes while I was there. In this instance he took it low to the grass alongside the lake, probably due to being mobbed ... the chick was fairly quickly despatched by its sharp beak and then swallowed whole.
