Hi Folks
The V1 spoilt me in one very nice way - I used the 300/4 lens bag over my shoulder, with the camera mounted for my 300 for one-lens wildlife journeys. [I never take two SLR lenses with me, and for most things a 50/1.4 system fits in either my small Billingham or Domke satchels.
So... I'm looking for a single-lens wildlife 'tube bag'. A lens bag that will take a 300/4 with a small SLR [think 3100/5100] attached, but held in the vertical position with the camera up top and the front element nearest the ground. The 300/4 bag won't because the weight is no longer at the bottom and the centre of gravity is higher, tending the bag to invert [and probably spill the goods - unwanted]. I'd be prepared to sling the 50 [or similar] underneath the 300 to counter the SLR weight on the top, but this bag would then need to have a second separate pocket underneath the main 'tube'.
Nobody seems to make one, at least in the usual places I've tried. Kata come closest, with this; http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-kata-grip-16-dl-holster-black/p1525526 however I have a sneaking suspicion it's wider and shorter than I might need. Their next model up isn't longer, but wider. I might try adapting a tripod bag, or looking around at fishing shops - but have any of you ever looked and found something similar?
