I'm new here, so forgive my responses as I'm still learning.
Isn't 1/1250s a VERY fast shot, so doesn't give the sensor time to take in light? You don't mention ISO but for a shot like this I'd have gone for a lot slower shutter speed and ISO around 200/400 (depending on brightness).
