A few from tonight

Yup. all very good(y)

Fantastic set, #3 is crazy looking - I've never seen such big eyes.

I'm with you there! I'm pretty new to photography and I've been trying macro with the canon 100 non L and all handheld so far. I'll have to post some of my better shots.
What do you use for flash? I've been trying with a 430ex ii and a Pringles tube with varying results, all part of the fun of learning :)

All stunning, not a lot else I can add.

I use the MT24ex with Fong Domes over StoFen diffusers. No reason why your homemade setup can't work well though (y)

they're brill, the first one is my favourite. What sort of lens did you have to get that close? (im a noob, so sorry for the dumb question) :)

Thanks :)

No problem as I was a noob myself just 3 years ago! (y) The close up ones are shot with the MPE65 which is a specialist macro lens (very expensive and hard to use, probably not suitable for a beginner). There are a lot of different ways to do it though and you don't have to spend a fortune - see the sticky thread in this forum :)

GREAT images only problem seems to be your Small Tortoiseshell image does not seem to be a true reflection shot somehow:LOL:

Excellent set but the peek a boo from both sides of the stem really stands out.

have just got an MPE and would be interested in the exif re aperture/speed etc

Nice set BTW:)

Here you go:

I can sympathise! Are you keeping a nice fast shutter (ie 1/200, 1/250)? Chances are you'll need a decent flash to achieve this. Most of the guys I know who are good with this lens usually go with 1/250 and f11ish then juggle flash or iso as required. The higher the magnification you go for the wider open you'll need the lens.

Keep at it but be prepared for a bit of frustration! :)

Shooting at 200/250 @f16 on tripod - working ok...it is the handheld bit...now if it stopped raining i would give it a go
