Another session unraveling the delights of strobe or flash as it used to be known. Again, three SB's fired. One through a snoot on the back wall, another via an umbrella and the third shot as and when. Various power ouput. Trial and error again, but netted some lovely stuff and I think possibly the best little bunch of people pics I have snapped in a long while. For reference, these were shot on my new Nikon 24-70 nano lens @ F2.8. Processed in light room to the point where I liked them is all.

I like the directional lighting, but I can't help but feel that it's a teensy bit harsh. It'd be spot on, imo, if you could keep the light balance directional but lift the shadows a little (especially the nose shadows).

Think they are all fantastic Diego Garcia but I love number 3.

Good set (y)

Nice.. this strobing is catching on!!

Did you use a homemade snoot on these?? iv made a snoot and a grid too.. they work very well.. i had a Blue Peter moment a while back!! lol..

No3 for me.. high key with flashes.. cool..

Sorry Diego, I'm going against the flow here and don't think these are anything like the standard of your previous work.

#1 - the best of them, like the way she's part covering her face but you've still got eye contact
#2 - lightings harsh on his face and the backgrounds a bit distracting

#3 - nope, far too high key, hardly any detail in her face, hairs going and you've lost her arm

#4 - it's okay, it's a picture of a pretty girl but it feels a bit flat

#5 - it's a sepia portrait of a guy

#6 - quite like this, the directional lighting suits it

#7 - it's okay, probably the best pose but here left eyes almost lost in the shadows.

Sorry mate, you can probably tell I far prefer some of your other stuff :( Just as well it's only an opinion :)
