I've recently aqurired a second hand Canon 100-400L for my trusty 5d ii. I love the lens, although it does take a bit of getting used to, especially the push/pull design but also trying to get focus in the right place, at 400mm and utilising f/5.6, it only requires a minute amount of adjustment to lose focus of the subject. I'm finding that even though I have the central point right on my target, it sometimes focuses a bit too far or close from the subject, it could be just my technique though.
Here is a few of my first pictures, I took these at 'The mere' located next to the small town of Ellesmere in Shropshire, all taken at 400mm:
