Say I want to send a 20 page document created in Microsoft Word Processor, which contains about 30 small photos among the text. How do I send it via email?

I tried sending it to myself as an attachment a couple of times but it doesn't seem to work  It loads up word when I click on it on the email, but then disappears

Should work that way, sending as an attachment is the normal route  Can you send it to anyone else to see if its a problem your end?

oh, and what happens if when you receive the document as an attachement, you save it under a different name then open it from saved location?

Create the doc, save it. Go to the folder you saved it in, right click and select send to email recipient. At this point your email app should open with the file attached. Just fill in the usual details and click send.

How big is the attachment, you might be hitting a size limit on the mail server possibly.

Another option is to save it as a pdf file and attach the pdf.

How big is it?? Certain ISP restrict the size of email uploads. (IIRC)
I'm not sure but 6-10mb could be the max to send for many.

It's 1526K, I sent it to myself and it sent OK

I'll try what you said Yv about changing the name of the file brb...

No I can't get that to work either

Yv gonna pm you ...

What mail client are you using Jo ? It might be an encoding issue corrupting the file. Is the received file the same size as the sent one ?

It's Gmail, and yes the file is the same size as when it left. Could it be that I am sending it to myself from the same address that's doing it?

I just ran a quick test on gmail (web browser) sending an attach to myself and it worked fine. I wonder, if as it's a word document, gmail is attempting to do something odd with it using google docs... Can you send yourself something other than a word doc and see what happens with that... Maybe cut and paste all the text to notepad, save as a .txt and use that, as a possibility.

Sent Yv ;)

I tried copy and pasting it into the body of the email first, but that didn't show the pictures. If there is a way of doing that I guess it would be better. It's not something I've looked into before, as I have never had the need till now

try zipping it with WinZip
- makes the file smaller
- may avoid confusing your email client!

:woot: So you could read and see the pictures OK? Brilliant. Thanks a lot for letting me test it on you Yv

PS. enjoy the read ;)

You're a star! Thank you :D

Thanks everyone else also, for trying to help silly old me
