Trying to get to grips with the sharpening of pics for posting. Have i overdone it on this one, sometimes doubt the accuracy of my 69 yr old eyes:)



 
Looks a little over cooked to me Brian yes.

Is this a heavy crop of an image?

I'd suggest pulling out a little and lessening the sharpening used, see where that lands you :)
 
I think it is what is known as a 100% crop. Get in a state with cropping as well:D I have a bit of a phobia about images being soft, i will try what you suggest (and hope i can see a difference!)
 
Would appreciate if you could tell me if this is any better, very minimal sharpening

 
hhmmm, I don't think the 100% crop is doing you any favours to be honest, the lesser sharpening seems to have made it no better.

Try a lesser crop, for one the tail is chopped off on 100% crop anyway (y)
 
Thanks for that, just shows you, i didnt even notice i had cropped off its tail, flaming eyes:D
