Nice shots Helen, on the crit side of things
1) Pity about the cropped parts of all of the Swans
2) Cute, and could probably do with a brightness and contrast boost
3) Good capture
must be the last two left in the country
4) Good capture and like the sunlight effect, however maybe a crop the other way giving it some width might be worth a try.
5) Another nice shot of the Heron which could just be brightened up a tad more.

Thanks you for the comments and ideas, i'll give your suggestions a go tomorrow, i would do it now but i'm flagging slightly today.
i have another one of the swans, wonder if you like this one any better
it could probably do with a tweak as well, i'm afraid i'm yet to make friends with photoshop, it's quite daunting for me at the minute!
