A shadowed landscape

The village of Langcliffe in the Yorkshire Dales, nestled below woods and limestone hills. I took this shot for the modelling that the shadows give to the scene.

Very nice but I think I'd crop out the sky at the top, my eye keeps getting drawn there.

That landscape makes a beautiful tapestry.
I have to agree with Hacker though ... the dead white space at the top is doing nothing for it!

Hmm not so sure....

The crag is an integral part of the landscape. Lose the sky and you lose the fact that it is a crag.

I do note tho' that the haze affects the hintergrund. Perhaps add a layer and re-do the sky so that it is not so bright?

2nd comment.

There is an awful lot going on in that photo. Houses, walls, trees, shadows...sky.

Not sure where to look first.

The pic does "pull you in", but in all directions at once.

Thanks for the thoughts Hacker, InaGlow and olddigt, I appreciate the feedback. Olddigt hit the nail on the head regarding the sky - I wanted the to keep the highest crags below the horizon because the blog piece this accompanies is about the pleasures of walking on limestone in winter. I hope most of my shots stand up by themselves, but occasionally they serve the needs of the piece of writing they accompany, and that's the case here.
