I have been asked to provide a image for the front cover of Hampshire the county Magazine.

I got an email this evening asking for a image A4 sizes but an inch larger so it will fit on the cover. I am having a few problems with my resizing and could do with alittle help please.

My image is 300dpi and its a portrait mode image, what should i set the diametions so it is an inch larger than A4 so its good to print as a front cover image

A4 = 8.27 × 11.69
So therefore
9.27 x 12.69?

A4 = 210 x 297mm

+ 25.4mm

= 235.4mm x 322.4mm @ 300dpi

just round the figures up, don't have to be precise.

TBH 25mm for bleed is an awful lot, but if thats what they have asked for I would give them that.

I always send my pics in to the magazine that uses them..

Resized at 8x5..

300 DPI

Saved at medium 7.

Good enough for pics inside and can be used for front page if needed (A4).

personally I would just send them the full image and let them do the work. its what I have done in the past and saves you making any mistakes

Problem with that is, the picture editor will think you don't know what your doing?
If you are a regular contributor to a publication they expect you to send your pics in the way they want them.
