I am about to print this off for my monthly camera club competition. Someone else suggested blurring the beach in the background but I cannot make my mind up.

I personally would NOT blur the beach. It gives the picture some context and depth.

Thanks for your thoughts which in the end after printing out as is I agree with. For the very reason you suggested it does most certainly give depth to the picture.
