ACTIVE FOCUS POINT/SPOT METER

when setting up for a landscape shot with my camera on a tripod i select a active focus point with the compass key.
if i select spot metering will the camera meter from where the active focus point is in the scene.
im asking has i wont to try taking two exposures one for foreground and one for the sky and then merge them in pp in cs5.

No idea TBH. But why not use manual, get your mid tone exposure sorted, recompose and then take bracketed exposures from there?

It will normally be the centre that the spot meter meters if that makes sense
