Hi there,

I want try the lenses from my film camera olympus OM-1 onto my canon 40D. I've looked at ebay and they seems to be two option.

Option 1 just a metal ring:

Option 2 the same ring with a plastic tube:

Is it just the picture or are they actually different? I choose two model without auto focusing confirmation because i all my lens are manual.

The focus confirmation chip is very useful:
- with a manual focus lens you get the green square focus confirmation in the viewfinder and the focus beep (if you've switched it on)
- the aperture setting on the camera will be recorded in the EXIF (although you have to duplicate the camera setting with the lens setting)
- TTL exposure metering is more accurate (my own experience using manual lenses with adapters on a 40D)
- you can programme the lens focal length and maximum aperture into the chip, so the EXIF records the correct data

You found two different adapters because one was for EOS (option 1) and the second (option 2, the one with the tube) was for EOS-M. You need an EOS version. The EOS-M is only for the mirrorless EOS M CSC.

Thanks for your help, so i'll buy the one with af confirmation chips that neil has linked. It's pretty cheap hopefully it will do the job.
