Adding a sequential watermark as a batch process? Any clues?

This has to be another simple one.. as mine usual end up being when I finally work it out

I want to take a selection of images, say a processed wedding, in order and add the filename/image number to say the corner of each image (in the border) .. but automatically.. a batch process style.

Any thoughts?

You can't do it with an action (as far as I know) a script is probably the answer, although I'm no expert on those. Wayne

An action or script would deal with the automating part, but the bit to make the number that goes on each sequential? Not sure about that bit.
