advice on upgrade

looking to upgrade from a oly500 to the 50D
or a s/h low Actuations 1D MKII as the 1D offered better autofocus speeds, more autofocus points, weather sealing starting to favour the 1d over 50d.
as i shoot manly equestrian i was thinking of putting a sigma 70-200 f2.8 on it dose anybody run this set up or can you recomend a suitabal lens combo.

I've got a sigma 70-200 on my 50D! It depends what you're after really.....

The 1D has better build quality, frame rate, and AF. However, the 50D will do better in low light (I think ). How's the light at these events that you do? I've done sport with my setup, couldn't really ask for more, but I've never handled a 1D, so can't really help with the comparison.

What is it that you want to improve by upgrading?
