The compact Manfrotto MT293C4 carbon tripod I bought was bundled with a Manfrotto 494RC2 ballhead but I need more flexibility and speed for changing view (bird and minibeast photography). The Manfrotto joystick heads 324RC2 and 327RC2 function exactly the same but the 327 is bigger and heavier. However, I'm wondering if the technopolymer plastics of the 324 will be good enough. The maximum I would mount on it would be a Canon 400mm f5.6L on 70D for birds. The 70D with Canon 100mm f2.8L IS Macro for minibeasts would I assume not be a problem on the 324.
Any advice would be appreciated and especially from anyone who has used either
