Advice please on lens change

I mainly shoot landscapes using my 10-22 most of the time.
My Canon 70-200 f4l non IS, only gets occasional use but I do really like it.
I am interested in trying my hand at macro and by all accounts the Canon 100 f2.8 macro IS, appears to be highly recommended by many. To justify the cost of this lens, I feel I would have to part with my 70-200.
Apart from the obvious differences, focal length, macro, is there any else to consider :thinking:
At 100 focal length how do they both compare?
 
The 100 L macro is an outstanding lens. Even now Im back with Nikon, I still wish I had that lens. Its perfect for portraits, and of course macro.
I also had the 70-200 f/4 IS at the same time and the non IS version for a short while
The 100 macro is much better built than both, it just oozes quality. I never used my 70-200 for portraits, I always went for the macro and got stunningly sharp results.

You really wont regret getting it!

Why not buy the Macro used, wait for a good price and then if you don't like it you can always sell it on without losing much.
 
Agreed. I lost almost £100 on my macro, cos I bought it new. It was only 2 months old when I sold it and completely mint.
 
Sigma 150mm f2.8 EX APO - had 3 for my Nikon - stonking lens would certainly have another (checks sales threads) but that was on Nikon bodies - not sure regarding Canon - but am sure one will be along to say (this being a Canon thread)...

There is a review on them in the reviews section (Sigma 150mm review) to save you the hassle of searching for it :lol:

Then again this review was from a Canon user....
