Advice Please!

Hi,

Not sure if I am in the correct 'Talk' section, but need some advice.

I have a PC running Vista, but I am considering an upgrade to Windows 7.

I currently use Photoshop CS2, which more or less works with Vista with a few glitches. But CS2, as I understand it, is NOT compatible with Windows 7.

Firstly, which Photoshop IS compatible with W7, and also which A3 printer make would be the best with this combination, as I have had compatiblity problems with my current Vista/Photoshop/Printer set-up. The printer I use at the moment is old, and I would be looking to upgrade that as well.

As all this will be expensive, I am hoping to get advice, to help me avoid making costly mistakes!

Thanks.

Welcome Rosie

In order to work with windows 7 starter or home you will have to get cs4.But a way round it would be to get windows 7 Professional (which will be to only one to be supported when windows 8 comes out) and use the Virtual PC xp mode, if it works you have saved some money. As for the printer I would look at epson 1400 which is A3+ and as £100 off at pc world.

Actually CS2 is compatible with Windows 7 x86 (32 bit). It only has problems with the 64 bit version of Windows since CS2 is a 32 bit program only and expects to be installed in a specific folder. Windows 7 will install it in "Program Files (x86)" which CS2 won't recongnize. The trick is to create a folder called "C:/Program~2/Adobe" and install it there. It works for many but I make no guarentee. May have to run compatibility mode after on photoshop.exe and choose Vista to be on the safe side.
