Hello,

I have been interested in IR photography for a while now, and occasionally have a tinker with my R72 (style) filter and an Ilford SFX 200 filter.

So far this is the best that I have come up with:

Does anybody have any advice to improve on this (ignoring the sharpness/motion blur as it was shot at 25 seconds on a slightly windy day)

Ideally IR is better suited to shots in sunlight rather than shade, to get the nice white grass etc. Have you tried doing a colour swap or adjusting the white balance?

Hi, I am hoping that the sun will be out tomorrow (as the weather man sais) so I can get some practice.

Firstly I took a 25 second exposure of a patch of sunlit grass and and set the white ballance to that.

I gave a colour swap a go using a PS IR guide on the web, but it just came out with a blue sheen covering the whole frame, which made it look worse.

Hopefully the sun will be better tomorrow and maybe give me better results.

On Canon DSLRs is wise to only really shoot in bright sunny conditions.
Your looking at using ISO200 - 400 at F8 expecting exposure times of 15 - 30+ seconds.

Ok, I have been out in some of the lovely sunshine that appears to be hanging around Kent today :p

And here is a couple of IR shots from the morning

Its still not quite what I want it to be, but I am noticing improvements, all of the shots from this morning were taken in RAW so I will be playing around with the white ballance to see what I can get
