AF-S lenses on different camera bodies?

Is the focus of AF-S lenses enhanced when using better camera bodies?

So in other words, would a 35mm 1.8 AF-S deliver a better performance on a D300s rather than a D3100?

No, the body has nothing to do with AF-S lenses as its the lens motor driving the focus, not the bodies motor. The only time you will find a difference, is say driving an AF-D lens on a D50 compared to a D3s. The D3s has a more powerful motor, so there will be a slight increase on focus time, but not very significant.
